IL COLPO Shenzhen explore the gray scale from marble materials to concrete surfaces, a touch of copper lines have been added to bring a warm detail to the space.
From the understanding of classic Roman design, the use of pure forms was also connected with the possibilities of the materials at that time. Arcs, cylinders, cubes or planes where combined and arranged together.
We also analyzed the elevation of the classic geometries and created an abstraction of it. In that way the base of the vertical elements like columns or walls gives the impression of not touching the floor.
A 3cm gap allow us to give individuality to each element so they can behave independently from each other. On the top this elements are also not touching the ceiling by a 50cm recess white painting area which is also emphasized by a lighting up effect.
Due to the elongated proportion of the site in the horizontal axis we divided the space in 3 parts. The front, the body and the end. Each of them with some singularities. The shopfront and the color section are made by cylindrical geometry.
The hair cut section is made by repetition of the same element which enhance the perspective, brings sophistication and high ending mood and create a rhythm. Along the both sides of this area we created a contrast between a glass wall to the lobby and a stone wall to the inner space.
Through the stone wall we pass from grayscale to colorful VIP rooms which helps to create uniqueness, individuality and privacy. After the vip room a dark gray area is set for the washing hair and relaxation.
Mu-lan spa is a 600 sqm facilities located in Chengdu new district. Our inspiration comes from the landscapes of valleys and mountain areas. Warm tones, clay, marble stones with delicates patterns were selected. By the entrance the high contrast between technology and nature welcome the visitors. A large curved reception desk, framed by a stone background that merges with lighting features, face the lobby area. Sophisticated furniture by the glass wall create a calm rest space under the ‘moon-like’ ceiling light.
Right after the lobby the consulting rooms island appear like a sharp bright laboratory for scientific diagnosis. This technological core helps to divide the functions as well. In the right of the plan the spa functions were set, to the left skin care section is located.
A meeting room for gatherings and presentations follows the idea of tatami floor which supported by the furniture enlarge the height of the room and bring the sense of collectiveness and human scale. The trust in the professionalism of the clinic is combined with the peaceful and Zen environment of the spa. 3 spa rooms for vip, 2 for male spa, 5 skin care rooms, 4 SPA room , 4 consulting rooms, a nurse station, waiting areas and meeting rooms facilities complete the scene.
IL COLPO Shanghai IFC is our most recent design for the biggest hair salon, beauty salon and SPA group in Hong Kong and recently expanding to Mainland with presence in most of cities. ii Hair & Nail Shanghai is one of their top brands, located in the heart of Pudong area in the IFC complex. The site offers unique views to the city and the Shanghai TV tower.
Our concept takes the inspiration from the high rise buildings, the sky and the clouds. A clean and neat environment with soft and smooth geometry welcome the guests from the entrance, the front desk the floor and walls are all unified with one material.
Light gray terrazzo create a continuous and pure environment detached from the ceiling by a gap of 500mm white wall lighted up by LED lines. In the ceiling clouds of soft film moves freely through the space. The result not only emphasized our concept but also wash the room with the necessary illumination that a hair salon requires.
Art pieces where adding in the composition. In the shop front window, sculptures of metal reminds us the clouds and guide us to the reception lobby. In the middle of the plan, originally a heavy column structure was transformed into central feature that pictures the movements of the space. A touch of dark wood add contrast to the materials board. From the window the shanghai tower reminds us the sky.
Ilcolpo Chengdu combine in its concept the ideas of modern, simplicity, urban life style and soft feminine beauty. The site itself involved several challenges to face. By the entrance a monumental column divide the space in two. At the back the site moves to the left braking the continuity.
In order to use all this constrains as an advantage we set an island reception desk which include the column in its composition, this structure helps to divide the entrance area from the resting area and also support the logo of the shop.
In the middle of the seating area with the intention to enlarge the number of sections and at the same time have more room for storage we created an invisible box entirely cover by mirror, which serves as hair coloring section and as a storage for products inside.
In the perimeter of the main area a touch of marble and soft colors define the cutting hair sections.
At the back of the shop we set the washing hair, restrooms and the vip area.
The overall geometry selected is an overlapped sequence of rings, in the space turn into cylinder, in the wall as a shelve and in the ceiling as a lamp. This sequence arrangement brings the idea of motion and allow us to connect the back of the shop with the shop front.
Calm blue and light pink gives a feeling of home and intimacy while the most private room behave by contrast with a high tech and bright look.
